Star of the North Picture Book Award

We are pleased to announce a brand new picture book award - the Star of the North! (One of Addendum's owners, Marcus, is on the board for this new award). On April 17th, Mackin hosted a special preview night where the 10 nominees for the inaugural 2013 award were presented (but we had to wait until now to share publicly!).

One of the nominees, David LaRochelle, was there to tell us about his nominated book - It's a Tiger! - and to sign copies.

All ten books were available that evening, and it was great to see everyone's reaction to the books that are up for the award!

Skype with Patricia Polacco

Today we attended a Skype visit with Patricia Polacco at Mackin

We received signed copies of Patricia's book Bully. Loved adding this book to our personal collections!

Patricia was wonderful. She made us laugh and she made us cry - she is an incredibly engaging speaker. Her passion for good books and promoting literacy shines through in all that she says. We were honored to participate in this visit with her, and we certainly hope to meet her in person someday!

Thank you to Mackin for arranging this visit and for the signed copies of Patricia's books! We had a wonderful time.
